Trip to South Pacific
Today, Norm Goldman, Editor Sketchand Travel . com and have happy Bookpleasures.com as a guest well known author, writer and expert travel in the South Pacific David Stanley. David is the author of Moon Handbooks South Pacific.
Good day and thank you David, you have accepted our invitation to an interview.
NORM:
Please tell our readers something about yourself, your knowledge and
Books you through the south Pacific.
David
I'm the life of Travel Guides since 1979, when Moon Publications of Rutland published the first edition of the Manual was South Pacific.
In November 2004, Avalon Travel Publishing, Emeryville,
California, in the 8th edition of Moon handbooks South Pacific. I'm Lonely Planet Guide to Eastern Europe, Cuba and the Maritime Provinces of Canada writing. Recently, I have with using the website, such as South PACIFIC.ORG: Map of South Pacific
PHOTOS CUBA.
NORM:
When we speak of the South Pacific, what we see and where it is compared to the U.S. or Canada?
David
"South Pacific" brochures of tour operators often focus on Australia and New Zealand, but the countries are very different from the tropical islands in the Pacific. Moon Handbooks South Pacific covers 15 countries and island territories of Easter Island to Solomon. People tend to think of the region, but need two hours flying over Los Angeles to Tahiti than to go to Honolulu. Fiji is midway between Hawaii and New Zealand, west of Tahiti.
NORM:
Did you know that in the South Pacific is a good choice for a romantic getaway or wedding and honeymoon? Why?
David
All major lines of the South Pacific trying to be a wedding or honeymoon market. Fiji and the Cook Islands are the most successful marriages can organized locally with little fuss.
In French Polynesia, marriages can be conducted only for those with a stay of 30 days, which excludes most tourists. Rather French Polynesia has an active industry honeymoon in Bora Bora is the development a wedding magazine for writers who enjoyed the hospitality of luxury hotels. In my opinion later
Moorea Bora Bora is the same in all but name, and is much less expensive. For a romantic, I recommend Rarotonga in the Cook Islands. There is much to see and experience in a field compact, but the prices are fair.
NORM:
What is the best time to visit the South Pacific in terms of time, costs the crowd, and availability flights from the United States, Canada and Europe?
David
Officially the hurricane season in the South Pacific during the period December to April, but global warming begins earlier and ends later. Winter (May-October) as a refrigerator, hairdryer, and a lesser extent in humid regions, the best time to go. May to August, the season in Australia
and New Zealand, so that the air New Zealand in the South Pacific are currently in the cards Month. So, a stroke of luck, enjoy the best weather for the low price if you plan your trip now.
NORM:
Is it safe to travel in the South Seas?
David
Very safe. "Terrorists stick to "hurt a finger on these small islands. Violent crimes (assault, etc.) is almost unknown, but theft has occurred. Nothing is lost, if a few simple precautions. In contrast to images of Hollywood and in tourist brochures, the island
The companies are socially conservative and somewhat abundant dress with disapproval. Unaccompanied women must, Do not park in separate bungalows or wander on deserted beaches.
NORM:
Would you participate in our readers an idea of costs, travel is the United States or Canada and fly to the South Seas?
David
A month of air travel from there to Los Angeles or Vancouver to Tahiti, Rarotonga, or Fiji start around U.S. $ 1,250 low season, provided that at least 14 days before the book and who are willing, 35 percent of the removal costs would be. If you get short-term During the season (December-February), you will pay about $ 2,000. Weekend travel sections of major newspapers carry ads for Discount Fares and tickets sites is often much lower than the price of airline staff on the phone.
For example, I recently flew from Vancouver American Samoa for U.S. $ 700 there on a special website. These proposals are generally known in the Bulletin of the South Pacific Tourism Organization, the South Pacific Tourism Organization.
NORM:
If you had to choose the six seats in the same South Pacific romantic holiday, honeymoon or destination wedding, what would be and why?
David
My first choice would be:
Tahiti and its neighbors, Moorea and Bora Bora.
Rostom high green and brilliant coral islands are unsurpassed, and "exotic" French atmosphere combines well with the charm Polynesia.
Fiji is close to the second of its stunning variety and convenience.
Then, on Rarotonga in the Cook Islands.
It has long been a popular holiday destination for residents of New Zealand. Rarotonga is small enough to explore in a week, and the facilities are excellent.
My fourth choice to Easter. As for walking, and archeology, it must first come. Travel agents often book arrest three nights on Easter Island, but insists that it is possible in such a short stay.
Finally, I say, Vanuatu, for those who are quite different. This little known Melanesian country offers a colorful mix of scuba diving, tribal culture, volcanoes assets, and in the South Pacific, the most beautiful capitals,
Two new novels take the new kind of fiction "recession" Two new novels, "This Is where we live" by Janelle Brown and "insignificant Other "by Stephen McCauley, touch the recession, the impact on both U.S. households, a West Coast, East Coast one.
