The Old Testament, the lamb, and vacation Bible School Lessons
The Old Testament is not often used in lessons VBS, unless some stories to take and to teach children certain characteristics that should be Christians. Nothing wrong with that, of course, but I think that the Old Testament is often neglected point of departure for the discovery of why Jesus had to die is the Gospel. Explained by the Old Testament sacrificial system is, without this explanation, children (and adults) do not understand that Jesus' death was the performance of the ultimate sacrifice. In today's world, many children know little or nothing the Bible, it seems appropriate to explain whole story. The following approach has been used effectively as a VBS class.
• The Bible is the written Word of God so that people can read and understand. In his word, God says, as he is – creator, loving, just, holy, perfect, single, etc. It is very important know and understand who God is, what in world history, and what happened today. At the beginning of the world, everything was the way which God has willed, with the first man, the friends of God. They could talk with him and see, and there was nothing wrong or bad.
• The Sin entered the world (thanks to an angel in bad faith, one in particular) who do not love and serve God, but it would be better than him. The first people on earth belongs to the bad angel, and made a bad choice: disobeying God. Thus, a party has been sins of all people this time. God says that sin is death (necessary because God is perfect, he could no longer friends with people because of sin), and the Death was not only an end of life on earth but for eternity (that you could not be with God after death).
• Since sin requires death, God told the people they kill a perfect beast (shedding their blood to occur) in their place. Do not care company The perfect permanently us from sin, guilt, but the blood was a temporary coverage of sin. The perfect animal (sometimes a lamb) was what God wanted to do one day people would be ideally someone refer the penalty for sin forever. People must believe that God would keep his promise if the lamb as a sacrifice for them in their place. Some people do not believe that God do what he promised, and they tried to do good works, which have their sins forgiven. God's Ten Commandments was to show that all sin, and no one can keep all the commandments and good enough to have had a friendship of God.
• Jesus, the Son of God is perfect, was on the earth as a man born without a sinful nature that all humans had. It should be a man and has much to prove that the son that God. At the right time he died, shed his perfect blood, so that people can have a way back to God. It was the perfect Lamb (in the Old Testament in the picture), God promised to send to pay for sins forever.
• Shortly after Jesus was dead and buried, he came back to life. There was nothing that could keep him dead because he was God in the flesh. The reason he had come to life, that whosoever believeth in him the belief (which he paid Sin for ever) be able to live eternally with God in his house, heaven. Since the resurrection of Jesus, believers are not held on him, death forever.
